Having entertained guests at weddings for the last 25 years, I have seen some of the most amazing ways to keep your guests amused and I thought it might be useful to share some of those ideas in this blog. 
 
Planning a wedding can be very time consuming and stressful and one of the ways to help reduce this is to use a wedding planner. Most professional wedding planners will have a black book packed with local venues, photographers, florists, car hire companies and entertainers and will be able to present a selection of ideas and prices removing all the lengthy online research and giving you a summary and working within your set budget. 
 
But if you are looking to plan your own wedding here are some of my favourite entertainment ideas 
 
 

Cariacaturist 

One of my great friends is a Caricaturist and he is a wonderful addition to a wedding, this is something you get to take away with you as a memory of the day, individual to you. 
 

Casinos 

 
Booking anything from one table up to a range of casino entertainment, it’s a safe way, where no one loses, and you get to play Poker, Blackjack and Roulette all with experience croupiers, fun money and gaming chips. Looks like loads of fun, especially if you haven’t been to a casino before. 
 

DJ 

 
Most weddings I have attended will have some sort of music, either a live band or a DJ, with a DJ you get the added benefit of the music going on all evening, a band will usually need to take a break and you will have to find something to fill that gap. That is where I have often come in with my cabaret mindreader show, this can last for up to 40 minutes and gives your guests a fabulous show while the band are taking a break 
 

Fireworks 

Generally this is going to need a bigger budget, having attended fireworks at a wedding it needs to be over 5 minutes to keep your guests entertained and that can be expensive, but if you have the budget an incredible way to close the night 

Fire Performers 

These can range from a solo performer to a full fire show, an exhilarating addition for when your evening guests arrive. 

Photobooths 

You get that extra wedding album which is fun and relaxed, and you get to see all of your guests having fun getting dressed up, a wonderful memory to be able to look back over in future years and your guests get a set of photos to take home too. 

Psychic or Clairvoyant 

Always a fabulous way to bring something different to your wedding, and not all weddings are glitter and fairy tales, I have also hosted a secret room, with something spooky for the bride and groom who may want something slightly darker and spooky 

Mindreader or a Magician 

I have had the pleasure of working at so many weddings over the years, with close-up encounters as the guests are waiting while the bridal photos are being taken, working around the tables after the speeches. I have performed my full cabaret show, getting the bride and groom up on stage with other key family and friends, and then captivating guests later on in the bar area as they take a break from dancing. 

Undercover Singers  

It never fails to surprise me when a waiter breaks out into song and there is suddenly a performance in the middle of the wedding breakfast, it is always such fun to see the guests faces as the show unravels, 

Toastmaster 

Not really part of the entertainment, but having a toastmaster, really does add an element of glamour to the welcoming of the guests and the announcement of the speeches. If the budget is available, look at one of the Guild of Toastmasters for their members in your area.
